Jain temple -Ranakpur
The Ranakpur Jain Temple were built under the reign of monarch Rana Kumbha in the 15th century and is with a 4,500 square yards basement the largest Jain temple in India. Ranakpur is known for its marble Jain temple, and for a much older Sun Temple which lies opposite the former. Jain temple at Ranakpur is dedicated to Adinatha . The marbles which are used in the construction of this temple are of Light colored used for the which occupies an area of approximately 60 x 62 meters. An enormous basement covers 40,000 sq. feet area. This temple has entrance from four sides. There are four subsidiary shrines, twenty four pillared halls and eligibly domes supported by over four hundred columns. On 22 nd July 1998, people from one group known as "Anoop Mandal" broke into the Jain Temple at Ranakpur in Rajasthan, which is one of the Jain Community's most famous temple and they 'beheaded' the idols of our Tirthankaras.
