Sariska national park of Rajasthan

Location: in the district of Alwar and lies about 110 km from Jaipur.
Coverage area: 800 sq. km (gross area)

Siliserh lake- The lake builts by Maharaja Vinay Singh in 1845 A. D. for his queen Shila. It is located near the Sariska tiger reserve, just off the Alwar-Sariska road.

The ancient Shiva Temple-in the precincts of the park, which are now in ruins, afford a wonderful sight to the visitors.

The Hides-The Hides in and out of the park are the best tourist attraction in Sariska. These hides are specially made to observe the wild in their natural way.

The Sariska was declared a sanctuary in 1955 and attained the status of a National Park in 1979. This park is situated only 200 km from Delhi and 107 kms from Jaipur. Although larger than Ranthambor, it is less commercialised and has less tigers but a similar landscape. Sariska National Park is home to many endangered members of the cat family - tigers, leopards, wild dogs, jungle cats, hyenas and jackals. It is located at Kankwari fort, near Alwar, on the Delhi Jaipur Highway.

Fauna :
Fauna is declared a Sanctuary in 1955 and it is became a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger. It is an excellent place for birdwatching. Here you can see several group of birds like grey partridges, quails, tree pies, woodpeckers, vultures and many more. Sariska has a healthy porcupine population, and this tiny creature often pits itself against the tiger, which is particularly fond of porcupine flesh.

Sariska is also well known for its large population of Rhesus Monkeys. E xtraordinary for their lack of diffidence are the Rhesus and Langur, which, at Sariska tolerate human closeness with amazing composure.
